Although we are long past the days of needing a double-lung transplant for my husband, we are both actively involved in continuing to support organ donation awareness. That’s why I was excited to come across an article online where the parents of an organ donor were not only featured on the news but the news station opened created a phone bank where people can call in and get further information on organ donation and transplantation.
It was genius! The phone banks were lined with volunteer family of organ recipients and organ donors to answer any and all more personal questions about organ donation.
I immediately opened up Twitter, contacted my friend Susan Kim from Today’s TMJ4 and told her about my idea. She immediately responded asking that I send her an email with further information about my husband’s story and that I did!
It’s been a few weeks now since I’ve heard anything back from Susan Kim or Today’s TMJ4 but I remain hopefully that we can create the same thing here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My ideal time would be to have it in April 2011, during National Donate Life month.
What do you think? Do you like the idea? Any advice on how to get it more visible?
Keep your fingers crossed!
